Senator Manny Pacquiao generously offered $10, 000, or around P500, 000, to the winner of his “biggest loser challenge” Senate edition.
According to Pacquiao’s staff, 115 Senate employees registered for Pacquiao’s challenge, a traditional competition that Many usually hosts before his fights.
“The contest aims to promote health awareness among Senate employees especially the overweights,” explained Rene Casibang, Pacquiao’s Head of Media Relations.

Pacquiao personally witnessed the weigh-in held on May 25.
Contestants are challenged to lose 20 percent of their weight, six weeks after the weigh-in, which is by July 8.
The first-prize winner will receive $10,000. The second prize will get $5,000 (P250, 000). The third-placer will receive $3,000 (P150, 000).
Pacquiao assured that others also get to receive prizes.
The fourth-placer will be rewarded with $2,000 (P100, 000)
Participants who will place fifth to tenth will get $1,000 (P50, 000).
Meanwhile, the 11th to 18th placers will also receive $500 (P25, 000).
Pacquiao’s staff said that a “temptation night” will be organized prior to the final weigh-in where the participants can opt to give up the challenge and dine with Pacquiao or proceed.
“The contestant will just have to approach a table where cash gift of unknown amount awaits them covered by the plate they choose to sit,” Casibang added.
Pacquiao is set to defend his welterweight title against Jeff Horn on July 2.
